Chaith Lís Ní Shúilleabháin furmhór a saoil ag teagasc i mBaile Átha Cliath agus ag filleadh go rialta ar a fód dúchais. Scéalaí aitheanta ab ea í agus seanchas a ceantair féin ar a toil aici. Tá cuntas breá sa leabhar ar an saol mar a bhí le linn a hóige agus tuairimíocht Líse ar an todhchaí. Bean go raibh spiorad innti ab ea í. Is tráthúil an tuairisc atá sa leabhar ar an nGaeilge i Lios Póil le linn Líse – toisc na dúshláin atá roimis gach pobal Gaeltachta fé láthair. Chuir Roibeard Ó Cathasaigh aithne ar Lís sna 70í nuair a bhí an bheirt acu ag teagasc ar choláiste samhraidh i Lios Póil. Bhí sí toilteanach taifeadaí a dhéanamh dó agus ina dhiaidh sin scríobh sí cuntais do. Toradh na hoibre sin atá sa leabhar Téanam go Min Aird. Cuirfidh Duibhnigh, canúnaithe, foghlaimeoirí Gaelainne & an staraí sóisialta araon suim sa bhfoilseachán ceannródaíoch so.
Lís Ní Shúilleabháin was a storyteller & a raconteur. She spent most of her adult life teaching in Dublin but returned to her native Lios Póil when she retired. She had an intense interest in the local history of her parish and had marvellous recall. The Irish Language was a passion and she was hopeful it would continue to be the language of her people. The book will enhance the current debate about Irish language planning in the Gaeltacht areas and encourage communities. Roibeard Ó Cathasaigh got to know Lís in the seventies when they were both teaching in the Coláiste Samhraidh in Lios Póil. She agreed to being recorded and wrote to Roibeard for a period afterwards. The results of these endeavours are in this book Téanam go Min Aird. The people of Corca Dhuibhne, Irish Language learners and scholars and local historians will be interested in this pioneering publication.
