Students can Learn to Love Irish through an Immersive experience in a natural friendly setting on the Dingle Peninsula in the heart of West Kerry Gaeltacht.
Emphasis is placed on the spoken language, grammar, The Fillteán Foghlama and preparation for the Irish Oral. Irish Topics are focused on the Primary Curriculum. Students also experience a taster of our vast array of literature, culture and traditions of the Dingle Gaeltacht. Interactive teaching methods are used in classes.
Afternoon and Nightly events are organised based on guidelines from the Siollabais do na Tréimhsí Foghlama sa Ghaeltacht. For example, workshops, heritage walks, sports, visits to tourist attractions in the locality, Slea Head Drive, Dingle, dramas, Irish Dancing and guest speakers.
All students stay in lodgings which have been inspected by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and officials from Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne. Houses are of a high standard and each student has a single bed. The Bean an Tí provide’s homely nutritious meals whose menus have been agreed with Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne.
**It is essential that students wishing to be accommodated together apply together and attend the same course. A college of their choice may not be available to students of different age groups wishing to be accommodated together.
Courses are always filled on a first come, first served basis. It may not always be possible to provide accommodation where requested and no more than three friends will be accommodated in the same house.
Each college is conducted by a staff which includes a principal, teachers and assistants. The principal and teachers are qualified under the Department of Education and Science regulations, in addition to being fluent speakers of Irish
